The centrifugal type moisture separator is (fig.) a vertically or horizontally located body. Saturated steam with moisture content is supplied through the inlet pipe to the separation device, which is located inside the casing. After effective separation from moisture, steam enters the steam pipeline through the outlet pipe. The condensate is discharged from the water separator housing through the condensate pipe. The HH type moisture separator is additionally equipped with a branch pipe for removing air from the housing. Moisture separators, starting from DN65, are equipped with supports (paws).
LLC "Artesia" produces centrifugal type moisture separators of four designs:
1: with a horizontal arrangement of the body and a horizontal outlet and inlet of the pair (H-type) into the separator;
2: vertical housing:
2.1: with horizontal outlet and pair inlet (HH type)
2.2: with vertical steam inlet to separator and horizontal outlet (VH-type)
2.3: with horizontal inlet and vertical outlet pair (HV type).
The steam that is separated from the water volume in the drums of steam boilers, distillation column trays and other steam generating equipment contains some moisture. The ingress of moisture into the steam flow occurs due to several mechanisms: rupture of the shells of steam bubbles in the process of vaporization, destruction of liquid jets, its grinding in bubbling devices, and the like.
Together with moisture droplets, contaminants enter the steam stream, including solid particles contained in the liquid phase. In the absence of devices for moisture separation, this leads to contamination of the process equipment to which steam is supplied, a decrease in its productivity, corrosive and erosive wear.
During the transportation of steam by pipelines, due to a change (drop) in pressure and temperature, some of it also goes into a drop state. At the same time, the presence of liquid droplets in the flow, which are formed in the steam-producing equipment, further intensifies this process, since they act as condensation centers. Liquid droplets containing contaminants and solid particles are freely transferred by a turbulent flow to the process equipment.
In this regard, saturated steam, before being supplied to the process equipment, must be subjected to separation, that is, the process of separating moisture in special equipment - moisture separators.
In engineering practice, centrifugal separation is widely used, characterized by high efficiency, simple design and ease of operation and maintenance, although the very mechanism for separating vapor (gases) and liquid in the field of centrifugal inertia forces is a rather complex process that depends on a large number of physical and structural factors. factors. Due to the action of centrifugal forces from the steam (gas) flow in the separator, it is possible to separate liquid droplets with a diameter of 10 microns with an efficiency of up to 99%. More thorough separation is carried out in case of technological need in ART-DS coalescent type separators.
Structurally, the ART-CS centrifugal moisture separator has both vertical and horizontal versions with angular (vertical) or direct steam (gas) supply.
