In order to ensure the stability and reliability of the pipelines, it is recommended to use a steam trap - a valve that works automatically. It prevents the consumption of steam, which has not yet changed its state of aggregation, which contributes to an increase in the power of the equipment.
Steam traps also allow moisture to form inside the pipeline. It appears as a result of steam circulation through pipes, if it is a steam line (collector, separator) or during the operation of heat exchangers (heaters, heaters, sterilizers). It also makes sense to buy a steam trap for tapping into gas pipelines and compressed air pipelines.
Steam traps - types and principle of operation
The presence of fluid in the steam lines leads to water hammer, degrades the quality of the steam and reduces the heat output of the units.
Types of steam traps:
Float - mechanical pipe fittings that contribute to the continuous removal of moisture. Consider the principle of operation of this type of steam trap. The main link here is a float in the form of a sphere, an inverted glass, or free-floating. In the first and second cases, it is driven by hinges. As for the third version, the calibrated hole opens in proportion to the amount of incoming fluid. When the container is full, a hollow float pops up and opens the valve. The condensed steam is released.
A float steam trap operates according to this cycle - start-up, air discharge, vapor recovery, liquid discharge. Depending on the type of device, the procedure for the algorithm may vary.
Thermodynamic - consist of a boiling chamber, disk, capsule, steam shirt, inlet and outlet openings.
It operates according to this principle - the valve opens under the influence of the incoming stream. Next, steam is supplied, as a result of which the pressure drops, and the disk begins to lower. Hot condensate entering the chamber boils. As a result, increased pressure occurs over the valve. As a result, the disk is placed in the saddle under the influence of two forces above and below. Secondarily boiling steam condenses above the valve and forms a vacuum. Because of this, the disk rises again, and the liquid flows under it into the boiling chamber. The cycle repeats again.
Given the principle of operation and the design of a thermodynamic type steam trap, they are recommended for use in steam removal systems and heat exchangers that do not require a constant outflow of moisture. If the equipment allows operation at a low concentration of condensed masses, you can install a thermodynamic apparatus.
Thermostatic - steam traps, similar in scope to the previous type. These mechanisms are also used in systems that do not require continuous drainage. Instead of a disk, they use a bellows - a corrugated container. They work on the principle of expansion and contraction of bodies from temperature. Equipped with elements sensitive to thermal differences, for example, membrane capsules.
- Bimetallic steam trap - belongs to the thermostatic category. It is intended for operation in systems with an internal temperature of up to 550 ° C. The principle of operation is the bending of the flow plate. It is deformed under the influence of high temperatures. Moisture is released as a result.
Selection and calculation of steam traps
To select the device correctly and accurately calculate its operation, it is necessary to take into account the diameter of the outlet pipe 15-100 mm, the maximum condensate load - from 40 kg/h to 60 t/h, the design of the units - steam pipe, heat exchanger, high pressure pipe, working differential pressure from 0.1 to 64 MPa or more.
Consider the type of connection in the pipeline:
Advantages of our steam traps:
- function stably under varying loads,
- have good bandwidth
- provide constant moisture removal,
- release air immediately after starting the system,
- resistant to water hammer
- withstand high pressure and superheated steam.
The Artezia company is the official distributor of the Japanese company Miyawaki, which supplies pipe fittings made of high-quality steel, cast iron, and brass. Therefore, the price of a steam trap is the most affordable for customers.
